What we collect
- Account details: username, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), and date of birth.
- Profile details you choose to add: gender, preferences, relationship status, province and area, description, photos.
- Messages you send to other members.
- Security data: a keyed hash of your IP address, kept for up to 24 hours for rate limiting. We do not store IP addresses in readable form.
Some of this information may reveal or imply your sex life, which POPIA treats as special personal information. We process it only with your consent, which you give by creating a profile, and you may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
How we use it
Only to run the service: to show your profile to other members, deliver messages, keep accounts secure and prevent abuse. We do not sell your information, use advertising trackers, or load third-party scripts on this site.
Photos
Photos are re-processed on upload, which removes embedded metadata such as GPS location. Private photos are only shown to members you approve, and are never served without that check.
Who can see what
Other signed-in members can see your username, age, area, profile text and public photos. Your email address and exact date of birth are never shown. Incognito mode hides you from search.
Retention and deletion
You can delete conversations or your entire account at any time from Settings. Account deletion permanently erases your profile, photos, messages and related records immediately. Backups are overwritten within [30] days.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to processing, or complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, strict access controls on photos, and session cookies that expire when you close your browser. If a breach affecting you occurs, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
