Protect your identity
- Pick a username that has nothing to do with your real name, workplace or other online accounts.
- Use an email address that only you can read — ideally one created just for this site.
- Don’t share your surname, employer, home suburb, phone number or social media until you genuinely trust someone.
- Avoid photos showing your face in the main photo if you prefer. Keep identifiable photos in your private vault.
- Watch backgrounds: number plates, house numbers, uniforms, office logos and recognisable views can identify you.
On your devices
- Use a private or incognito browser window. You’re signed out automatically when it closes.
- Don’t let your browser save your password for this site on a shared device.
- Use Quick exit (or press Esc twice) to leave instantly.
- Turn off message previews in your email app if you set up notifications in future.
Meeting someone
- Meet in a public place for the first time and arrange your own transport.
- Tell a trusted friend where you’ll be.
- Never send money to someone you’ve met here. Requests for money, airtime or gift cards are almost always scams — block and report them.
- Be wary of anyone who threatens to expose you. Do not pay; stop contact, keep evidence and report it to SAPS. Extortion is a crime.
